Overview

Noelle and Collin, two close friends of mine, asked me to create a one-of-a-kind wedding website that would capture the essence of their love story while being easy to navigate for guests of all ages. This project marked my first true client work and was an exciting opportunity to showcase my design and storytelling skills.

Accomplishments

  • Created a one-of-one wedding website that beautifully captured Noelle and Collin’s "transitional autumn" and "photo-forward" themes.

  • Designed and developed unique, functional pages that made their website stand out and feel uniquely their own.

Responsibilities

I designed and developed the full website, incorporating unique, functional, and visually appealing elements that aligned with Noelle and Collin’s vision. Throughout the project, I remained in constant communication with them to ensure the project was moving along in their preferred direction.

Process

From the start, Noelle and Collin had a clear vision for their site. I took note of descriptors like "transitional autumn," "nature in the city," and "photo-forward," and used these as guiding principles throughout the design process. While I was confident I could create a visually appealing website, I also focused on making it highly functional, ensuring that even grandma and grandpa could easily navigate the site.

One of the standout pages was the Things To Do page. Most wedding websites simply list restaurants and activities, which wasn’t very useful for guests trying to find things to do near their hotel or other locations. To solve this, I created a customized, interactive Philly map that organized information geographically. This allowed guests to see exactly where each recommendation was located in relation to their own plans. Plus, how can you not love that cheesesteak icon?

Another key feature was The Story page, where Noelle and Collin wanted to share their love story. Understanding the sentimental value of this page, I drew inspiration from my mom’s scrapbooking hobby and designed a polaroid-inspired layout. The page featured movable photos that guests could interact with, accompanied by a scrollable narrative. This design added a personal, tactile element to the site that Noelle and Collin loved and will likely revisit long after their wedding.

Lastly, the VIPs page was a special request from Collin, who was particularly excited about this aspect of the website. He envisioned a "Choose Your Fighter" theme reminiscent of classic arcade games for the bridesmaids and groomsmen section. I ran with this idea and designed a playing card selector that fit seamlessly within the overall website vibe. Noelle and Collin added the finishing touch by writing out strengths and weaknesses for each of their wedding party members, making the page both fun and memorable.
