Overview
Auxparty is a social music app designed to turn your music taste into an expressive, interactive Instagram story. By leveraging Spotify streaming data, Auxparty offers users personalized prompts to share their favorite music with friends, creating a dynamic back-and-forth that fosters engagement and connection. Building Auxparty was a significant milestone in my design career as it allowed me to create a brand and design system entirely from scratch, all within a vibrant Gen Z aesthetic.
Accomplishments
Designed 100% of Auxparty’s visual identity, including the logo, mobile/web UI/UX, and personalized shareables, all within a two-month timeframe.
Created personalized shareables inspired by the Gen Z vinyl resurgence, which played a key role in driving user engagement and Auxparty’s viral potential.
Responsibilities
As the sole designer for Auxparty, I led the entire visual identity creation, including the logo, mobile and web UI/UX, and personalized shareables. My role encompassed every aspect of design, from initial concept to final execution, ensuring that the brand resonated with its target audience and stood out in the market.
Process
Auxparty was an exciting offshoot of Anthems, born from our desire to experiment with a concept inspired by the Gas App—a platform where users post anonymous, complimentary polls to their stories. We saw the potential to translate this dynamic into the music space, creating an app where users could share their favorite tracks and receive responses from friends, fostering a similar sense of pride and ownership.

The project moved at a breakneck pace, with just two months to bring Auxparty from concept to completion. This involved countless brainstorming sessions, caffeine-fueled whiteboarding at WeWork, scrappy marketing strategies, and, for me, intense hours in Figma. Despite the pressure, the experience was exhilarating.

Designing Auxparty’s visual identity was particularly liberating because it allowed me to break free from the darker, two-tone color scheme I had been working within Anthems. Instead, I embraced a vibrant and playful color palette that resonated with our Gen Z audience. The colors, in particular, stand out as a defining feature of the app’s design.

One of the biggest challenges—and most rewarding aspects—of this project was designing the personalized shareables. These were crucial to Auxparty’s viral potential, as the app’s success hinged on users sharing these visually appealing prompts with their friends. I drew inspiration from the Gen Z resurgence of vinyl collecting, incorporating elements that would not only catch the eye but also create a sense of nostalgia and ownership among users.

While Auxparty didn’t achieve massive user numbers, those who did engage with the app responded positively to the designs, particularly the shareables. This feedback was validating and reinforced the importance of taking creative risks
